5 Great Gifts I Received at Christmas

Today I wanted to share 5 great gifts I received at Christmas that will hopefully bring all of you some ideas when you’re out shopping or thinking of what to get someone. So let’s dive into it…

Tesalate Beach Towel

First up is the Tesalate Towel that my Mum gifted both my husband and I. Have you heard of Tesalate before? They’re an Australian brand that invented the best new beach towel. What’s cool about them is they’re actually large, lightweight, absorbent, quick drying, and they don’t catch sand. We haven’t taken them on vacation yet but I’m excited to take them to the beach when we go. For now, I’ve just been using the towel for the shower but they’re great for yoga, travel, and the pool too. The fabric is called AbsorbLite™ and it’s a microfiber made up of 80% polyester and 20% polyamide. You kind of have to get over the fact that it’s not a huge plush towel that you’re going to warm up in. Instead it’s a thin lightweight material making it nice and compact for on-the-go. The come in a variety of fun prints and are double-sided. My husband got this print and I received the poppy one that’s pictured.

Great gift for your husband, wife, girlfriend/boyfriend, daughter/son, travel buddy, instructor, or teacher.

Travel Credit

This past Christmas my in-laws changed things up and gifted us something so practical – airline travel points with Westjet. We have so much stuff and are really trying to declutter the house so this made perfect sense and it’s totally practical. It’s an extremely generous gift and what’s great is that it’s something the whole family can use at any time. We could either put it towards a big vacation or use it for one of our trips back east.

Great gift for a family or a family member. It’s also an excellent retirement gift idea!!

Everyday Sock Lace Trim Indigo
Indigo Reading Socks – Everyday Sock Lace Trim

Indigo Socks

When I’m not in slippers you can find me wearing the coziest socks around the house. I love my J.Crew and Roots socks but THESE, Everyday Socks from Indigo, are now at the top of my list. They come in a few shades of blue but I love the soft pink with lace trim detail. They’re so pretty and feminine. My Mum put these in my Christmas stocking and I might have to grab myself a couple more pairs.

Great gift idea for Valentine’s Day or teachers, best friends, neighbours, babysitters, gift exchanges, etc.

Shop Local Sign

I first discovered Cedar Mountain Studios from visiting the One of a Kind Show at Christmas in Toronto back in 2017. They design and handmake beautiful gifts and décor. I have a Christmas wall art piece from them but, most recently, I was gifted this fun word art from my Mum. She knows how much I love to shop local and she does the same so when she saw this she scooped it up fast.

These timber bits come in a variety of different words, emotions, and expressions, and are printed on cedar blocks. They can be stacked to create different messages and you can place them on a desk, shelf, tabletop, mantle, or bedside table. They also come in different lengths: small (5 1/2”), medium (8”) and large (11”).

Great gift for your boss, hostess, girl friend, teacher or even for Mother’s Day/Father’s Day!

Soia & Kyo Jacket

You can never have too many jackets when you live in Canada, am I right? This past Christmas I told my husband I wanted a new parka, but one that is a little dressier than my North Face. I wanted it for date nights, out with the girls, and to wear to various outdoor events. I didn’t want a big logo or a patch on my coat and I didn’t want it in black. Those were the requirements. I wanted something different and I think I found it with my Soia & Kyo Joleen Jacket in Indigo.

75% of the time I pick out my own Christmas gifts, so for 2018 this is what I picked and I couldn’t be happier. Man…there are some expensive coats out there. I wanted something higher end that wasn’t going to completely break the bank. I waited until Boxing Day to grab it and it’s STILL ON SALE for $600 (Orig. $750) if you’re looking for something similar.

This Soia & Kyo mid-length coat is a straight fit but has an adjustable tie at the back to cinch the waist a bit more. It’s extremely warm with 90% down and 10% feather and works for -30 weather. It’s also water-repellant and has a removable hood as well as a removable raccoon fur collar. It’s dry clean only but the fabric and lining is soft and luxurious that I don’t even care that it’s more maintenance.

Great gift for that special someone – wife, mother, daughter.
