Hostess Gift Ideas
This season you’ll probably be attending a few holiday parties and will want to take something in tow as appreciation to the hostess. A hostess gift does not need to be expensive or extravagant. Typically you don’t need to spend more than $25. When bringing a gift to an event you want to show your appreciation and contribution, and select something that reflects their taste and style.
If you don’t want to take the standard bottle of wine or box of chocolates, here are some hostess gift ideas that say ‘thank-you’.
1. Homemade: Ginger Snap Cookies + Dish
Why I love it…
Baking is always a lovely hostess gift because it shows thought and effort went into it. It also helps that it’s an affordable option for all as long as you have the time to whip up a batch. Buy a cute little dish, plate or bowl that can be gifted with the baked goods like the one you see here. I steer away from using tins because you can’t do much with it after the fact; they dent easily and don’t hold up. By purchasing a nice bowl or dish it’s something they can actually use again.
Shop Smart Tip – I bought this Le Creuset square baking dish for $16.99 from HomeSense.

Everyone can always use new kitchen utensils…I don’t care who you are. It’s especially nice to have a fresh new set around the holidays with all the baking and cooking you end up doing. This 3 piece set makes cooking friendly with the silicone spoon/spatula heads and bamboo handles. Wrap a bow around the handles and deliver!
3. Crate & Barrel: Conversion Trivet – $18.95 CAD

A fun way to keep track of conversions of weights and measurements when you’re in the kitchen, and a great way to protect your surfaces from hot dishes too! It’s a fun gift to take the hostess especially when you have lots of food to put out on the table for the holidays.

The Silk Road Spice Merchant is a great shop located in Inglewood. They offer a huge selection of spices, herbs, and seasonings from around the world. Everything is fresh and their prices are awesome. For the holidays, you could pair the Apple Pie Spice ($8.99) and the Maple Sugar ($9.99) in cellophane and ribbon as a gift. It will definitely be a hit! This particular spice and pure sugar would be great in tea/coffee, oatmeal, cookies, muffins, waffles, or on toast! I love Erin Gates’s blog – Elements of Style! She is witty, honest, engaging, and has the best eye when it comes to design. In her book, she shares personal stories while providing the reader with a practical decorating guide. It’s more than a coffee table book. You’ll find yourself reading every page and then wanting to re-arrange your furniture and re-decorate. This book would be an excellent gift for the hostess that loves interior design.
9. Uncommon Goods: Foodie Dice – $33.47 CAD

These dice are such a creative way to shake up your meals whether you’re an avid chef or beginner cook. They’re bound to bring some new ideas to the kitchen and make for a fun gift for the hostess.
10. Indigo: Kate Spade Special Occasion Cards – $34 CAD

This beautiful box of notecards is the perfect gift to take to a hostess because it’s unique. You receive 3 cards and envelopes per special occasion: Birthday, Thank You, Congratulations, Get Well, and Just Because.
